About me....
For as long as I can remember I have always loved drawing and painting.
My father was an artist. When I was a child he told me one could draw on any kind of material with any kind of medium. He bought me a roll of lining paper after he caught me drawing on my bedroom wall. This was long enough to cover our table and I used to paint huge landscapes full of animals.
When I started horse riding all I seemed to do was endlessly draw horses and ponies.
I went to Oxford Brooks University to study Graphic design. This was a safer path towards building a career than my preferred choice of fine art. It proved successful, in as much as I was always in work, if not in some way creatively challenged.
I worked in a drawing office until my son Tom was born, after which I worked as a free-lance artist in finished artwork for publication, illustrating for both technical and children's books. Later my husband Ray and I formed our own business under the name of 'Art and Bookwork'.
For the past years I have followed my first love of painting. Enjoying most the mixed media theme, working from sketches and photos, painting more often or not horses again and am now a member of the Society of Equine Artists.
I am also with the Reading Guild of Artists and the Henley Arts & Crafts Guild.
I am very happy to do commissions painting horses, dogs, cats, sheep, cows, goats etc. All I need is a focused photograph taken in a good light showing the character of the animal.
I would produce a painting of your animal for you and your family to treasure for years to come. I am often approached by people who have lost a beloved pet, I love doing these most of all because it brings their pet closer to them again.
If you are interested, please send me your details on my contact page. I would love to hear from you.
